Adding the beans, and filling the mason jar with cool clean water STEP 2Sock the beans for 8-12hours at room temperature. In the morning, strain off the water with a sprouting lid. Rinse well with filtered water and drain again. STEP 3Place the jar away from sunlight upside-down at an angle. Repeat, drain the water through the sprouting lids at least twice a day. The whole process can take 2-5 days. STEP 4Let sprouts grow to about an inch. Lentils, mung beans, chickpeas and adzuki are good at about a half-inch.
