The moths, which destroy honeybee wax combs and even the structure of hives, cause widespread damage and even colony losses for beekeepers. B402 offers efficacy of up to 100% against wax moth larvae. B402 has recently been approved for use with honey bee colonies by the USA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and many individual states have already confirmed that registration. B402 is safe to use and harmless to beneficial insects and pollinators. It leaves no chemical residues in wax or honey, and only a single application is necessary to provide complete protection. B402 is a preventative treatment that controls wax moth. It is a safe and environmentally friendly product based on a concentrated solution of Bacillus thuringiensis, a microorganism. Use B402 after the honey harvest, when the frames are stored and kills young wax moth larvae. Use BEFORE a wax moth infestation. How to use B402 biological wax moth control Preparation Before mixing, calculate the amount of product required to treat the desired number of frames. (For up to 100% wax moth control, one 5 oz. B402 bottle treats 70-100 Langstroth Deep brood frames). Shake the bottle of B402 vigorously before mixing. Dilute with water to 5% (1 volume of B402 to 19 volumes of water) Once diluted, use the solution the same day. Applying B402 Solution Shake the bottle before use.Apply evenly with a sprayer over both sides of the frame.Allow the frames to dry in an aired room before storing. When to use B402 Use B402 AFTER the honey harvest, when the frames are stored. Protection is effective right through to the following season.Use B402 to protect decoy or empty hives. B402 kills only young wax moth larvae and must be used as a preventative before the combs are infested. How to store B402 B402 should be stored at a temperature 40°F – 68°F. If stored in a cool place (under 50°F) and in its well-sealed original bottle, B402 can be kept for several years. Safety of B402 Unlike paradichlorobenzene, which is a toxic product and forbidden in some countries for any agricultural use, B402 does not leave any residue in the wax or the honey. B402 is harmless to bee larvae and adult bees. Aizawai serotype 7 (present in B402 ) is the sole variety of Bacillus thuringiensis to give excellent results against wax moth. Some other types of Bacillus thuringiensis are toxic to humans & bees. B402 is currently approved in most US states and the District of Columbia.
