Quality Types of Boxes Select is the best, almost clear, dime size (or smaller) tight red knots are acceptable, except in frame rabbit, hand holes and finger joints. Commercial is the best seller, a knotty grade, knots can range in size but are tight which do not affect finger joints or frame rabbit. Small tight cracks, panel/finger variations (within a 1/32″) and imperfections are acceptable. Budget is poor quality, a knotty grade, knots can range in size which may be loose and can be any where in the panel. Minor panel or finger alignment (within an 1/16″) issues but a fully functional box. Small repairs may be necessary. We use a low moister white pine for consistency which can affect drying & assembly. We typically run a load within two weeks of delivery to cut down on moister variations. Our box panels are ran through a single machine from start to finish which eliminates human error & inconsistencies which means there are no moister changes between machine runs that can affect fit.
