Condition of this Swan Neck: is good with dents as shown but will skillfully pop out using the special or improvised tool or as usually done by folks who restore these on a regular basis.. There are no other flaws except the need for refinishing.The seam and the soldered bead shows no signs of loosening or separation. Both ends are perfectly round and intact as original. The collar is brass The brass lock is tight and works, and the tabs are intact. Any rust is in the microns – surface – and will not pit when removed. This auction is for the elbow or gooseneck only. Saxophone Body and Bow Dent Removal Tool included (now called a swan neck dent remover) : This tool measures i8″ Long treaded on each end for a 3/8″ x 16 thread. Included is a 2″ and a 3/4″ dent ball. Other sizes (larger & smaller) are available at Feeree’s Tool & Band Instrument Supply. They ain’t cheap. There is a moveable & removeable cushioned sleeve to protect the brass collar from the rod. You clamp it in a vise at desired angle and depth and use a magnet to locate where the dent is, coat the ball with petroleum jelly and slowly rub the dent in a circular motion from the shallow area of the dent, inward a little at a time applying pressure. The larger ball is for larger dents, and and the small ball for smaller dents, Oy takes a bit of skill so practice on a thin wall copper pipe or a brass cylindrical object., like a copper, brass or tin cup or pitcher is recommended. Once you have the dent out use a back and forth burnishing motion to even out the previously dented area to the undented area. Try not to push too hard as to stretch the metal. Exterior burnishing and leveling is not needed is you use patience and skill occasional there are dents that may poop pot but this takes practice as well.
