LANGSTROTH ON THE HONEYBEE 1859 3rd Ed Revised & Expanded book w 77 engravings For your consideration, is a comprehensive introduction to the art of beekeeping by L. L. Langstroth, the inventor of the Movable Comb Hive. This expanded version of the earlier 1853 beekeeping classic is considered the first modern view of beekeeping. This version has added many more visuals, 77 engravings and 23 plates throughout. Hardcover, 405 pgs. The book has nice cover & spine detail (though very worn) with the spine having a now-obsolete bee skep with bees swarming to the author’s name/title, all in gilt. The embossed hardback cover features a bee on front and back. The book is complete with intact pages including the opening tissue overleaf, but pages are stained for the most part: I’ve posted photos to help you decide if that is a problem. It is easily readable and appears that the owner actually used this book in the field. CONDITION:Overall Good to Fair/Acceptable Cover: Brown cloth boards with gilt stamping on spine. Exterior is in poor condition with excessive wear/fading, bottom edge and corners worn-through. Spine has separated, worn at top and bottom. Pages: Pages are all legible, as mentioned, most all are stained in the manner of the example photos. Interior front page has a pencil price written, no other writing noted. One page is missing the dog ear corner. Spine/Binding: Separating at the binding-about mid-way through the book there is hinge cracking.
