After setting up your hives and installing bees in the Spring, you’ll just need to inspect your hives about once every 10-14 days throughout the summer, adding additional boxes or feed as necessary. Figure on about 30 minutes per hive. The bees will do the rest. If you choose to extract and harvest honey at some point, that will take a little longer. Then close up the hives in the Fall. Hive Tools Beekeeping requires that you have certain tools when inspecting and working with your hives. These include a Smoker, Hive Tool, Bee Brush, Frame Grips, and a Frame Rest. You can offer them supplemental food such as liquid feed, pollen patties, and dry powder or pollen substitute. We have a complete line of feed to keep your colony healthy and growing. Feeders We offer entrance feeders, in-hive or frame feeders, and top feeders to use. Harvesting Tools Bees only need enough honey stores to get them through the Fall and Winter.
